A fast preparatory centrifuge. Number of rotations 26 000 rpm. Acceleration > 81700 x g. Temperature ranges from -10oC up to + 40oC. Available centrifuge tubes: 50 mL (8), 250 mL (6), 500 mL (6), 1000 mL (6) – the possibility to centrifuge in bottles or bags. The maximum capacity – 6 liters. There is possibility to configure the centrifuge so that it works continually (flow centrifuge with efficiency at the level of 100 L/h).

This ultracentrifuge reaches the maximum speed of 65000 rpm, (485000 x g) and is used to isolate and purify plasmid DNA in the gradient of cesium chloride to separate subcellular fractions of viruses, etc. We have the fixed angle rotor type 90Ti – 8 x 13.5 mL; the maximum speed is 90000 rpm (694000 x g).

Centrifuge X-22R

A general centrifuge with the cooling option to the requested temperature within the range of -20 up to 40°C equipped with angle rotor (25°) with six holes with a nominal capacity of 85 mL (38 x 104 mm) and the reduction inserts enabling centrifuging in CORNING 430291 (50 mL) and CORNING 430791 (15 mL) centrifuge tubes. The maximum speed is 10000 rpm, max. RCF 10864 x g.

Two dimensional chromatography

A system used for the two-dimensional protein fractionation. In the first dimension, molecules are separated according to their isoelectric point. Elements of the mixture are removed from the column with the pH gradient (chromatofocusing). In the second step, each of the collected fractions is separated in the process of high-performance chromatography on the reversed phases. The UV detector works within the range of waves of 190 up to 700 nm.

NGC QUEST 100 preparative chromatographer

The chromatographic system dedicated to the analysis, separation and purification of proteins. Generated flow ranges from 0.01 to 100 mL/min. The maximum pump pressure is 1450 psi (10 MPa) for the pumps with the flow of up to 100 mL/min. The UV/ VIS detector enables detection of 4 wave lengths within the range of 190 – 800 nm. Conductometric detector enables the measurement of conductivity within 0.01–999 mS/cm.

Double beam, scanning UV-VIS spectrophotometer working in the spectral range of 190-1100 nm having two measuring sockets allowing simultaneous measurement of the sample and the reference. The pulsating xenon lamp is the source of light. The changing spectral width: a set of discreet cracks 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0; 4.0 guarantee the fully replicable spectra width of the measurement crack. Ebert type monochromator with software enables the work in the following modes:

  • Removing spectra (SCAN): Abs, %T, 1 – 4 derivative, Zoom,

This sorter device FACSAria is based on the technology of flow cytometry. It enables cell sorting with the simultaneous use of 11 parameters: the size and granularity of cells and 9 markers labelled with the use of 9 different fluorochromes. FACSAria is equipped with 3 lasers (488 nm, 635 nm, 407 nm) cooled with air and detectors for 9 different fluorochromes. It has a rapid sorting module up to 90 million cells/ hour and software to sort cell and collect data. The FACSAria sorter enables sorting and performing the analysis of cells on the basis of simultaneous expression of different markers, sorting up to 4 different sub-populations of cells, selecting transfectant clones, examining the cell and determining DNA in cells and others.

Q-TRAP 4000

Mass spectrometer with a linear ion trap in the form of a hybrid triple quadrupole is meant for qualitative and quantitative denominations of small particles peptides and proteins. The quantitative measurements for small particles are usually carried out in the MRM (Multiple Reaction Monitoring) mode. The qualitative analysis of small molecules are carried out in the EMS (Enhanced MS) mode to determine the molecular mass of the particle. The merge of the (Enhanced Product Ion) and the MS3 (MS/MS/MS) mode enables to establish the structure of the analyzed compounds. Within the scope of the qualitative analysis of proteins and peptides, it is possible to the establish their molecular mass and and the sequence of amino acids. The mass measurements are carried out in the EMS and the EMC (Enhance Multi-Charge) mode. In the ER (Enhanced Resolution) mode, it is possible to obtain more adequate mass value. Defining the sequence of peptides is possible in a tandem of EPI and the MS3. The spectrometer is connected to the high-performance liquid chromatographer. Solutions and chemicals which are compatible with the mass spectrometer are as follows: methanol, acetonitrile, water, formic acid (max. 1%) and ammonium acetate (solvent max. 1%)

Mass spectrometer 4800 PLUS MALDI TOF/TOF

MALDI (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption-Ionization) is a soft ionization technique causing minimal or no sample fragmentation and thus allowing identification of the molecular ions of analytes. MALDI mass spectrometer enables analyses of compounds up to 250 kDa , mainly peptides, proteins but also DNA and polymers. There are three modes of operation of the device:

  • Reflector mode allowing registration of high resolution spectra within the range of masses from 600 up to 10000 Da with the accuracy level of 0.05% (500 ppm),
  • Linear mode which gives a lower accuracy at the level of 0.1% (1000 ppm) and allows registering spectra within the range of 600 Da up to 250 kDa,
  • MS/MS mode which is used to register fragmentation spectra on the basis of which it is possible to define th sequence of amino acids of the analyzed peptide.

Tempo Nano HPLC

In MALDI spectra of chemical compounds the phenomenon of suppression of ions is rather frequent. It can be prevented by separating the mixture of compounds prior to mass spectrometric measurements. This presented system, dedicated for this purpose, consists of an autosampler, high-performance liquid chromatographer generating microliter per minute flow rates and the UV detector with 45 nL flow cell (214 nm). There is a possibility to define the gradient of the two-component mobile phase. The eluate is mixed with the solution of the MALDI matrix and then automatically applied on the MALDI sample plate. After drying, the fractions collected on the plate may be immediately analyzed in the MALDI TOF-TOF mass spectrometer.

Lyophilizator for ampoules
Alpha 2-4 LSC

The universal lyophilizator for rapid drying of small quantities of samples and in the optimization of the conditions of the lyophilization process on a pilot scale. The process may be carried out in three ways:

  • In vials placed on a single round shelf with the diameter of 20 cm whose temperature can be regulated within the range of -35 up to 50°C with the possibility to close vials in a vacuum.
  • In vials that are placed on three round shelves with the diameter of 25 cm which can be heated up to the temperature of maximum 50°C (without the possibility to cool them), with the function to close vials in vacuum.
  • In round flasks outside the chamber of lyophilizator (maximum 12 flasks)

The freezer can contain up to 4 kilograms of ice.

The system used for the electrophoretic separations of DNA fragments with the use of the capillary method enabling sequencing and analyzing the length of DNA fragments. The laboratory bioreactor for suspension culturing of all types of cells both in the oxygen and non-oxygen conditions. The device is composed of a control station equipped with a touch screen: it has 3 built-in peristaltic pumps, TMFC for 4 gases, controllers of pH probes, O2, sensor of foam levels. The culturing container is made of borosilicate glass and its volume is approx. 5.5 liters, the container is equipped with a paddle stirrer and 4 whirl cutters made of stainless steel 316 L, sterilized in autoclave. The software of the device enables automatic control of all control parameters such as pH, DO, temperature, the speed of gas transfer, the speed of stirring and it allows to attach and control a redox probe, additional pH sensors and DO as well as external pumps.

BIOFLO 415 Bioreactor

The laboratory bioreactor for suspension culturing of all types of microorganisms, yeasts and other fungi with the possibility to carry out continuous culturing or a temporary one with power. The control station is equipped with: 3 built-in peristaltic pumps, thermic mass flow measurement, controllers of  pH probes, DO, sensor of foam levels, 7 analogue entrances and exits enabling the connection of external devices and sensors in order to optimize the efficiency of the process. The volume of the culturing bioreactor is dm3. It is however possible to carry out the cultures with the capacity ranging from 4.0 to 10.0 dm3. Two-wall culturing container is made of stainless steel, equipped with a three-blade stirrer and 4 whirl cutters made of stainless steel. There is a function to automatically sterilize the bioreactor in the location where it is being used (SIP).

DNA/RNA protein analyzer

The device is used for the automated analysis of quality and quantity of nucleic acids and proteins. The device enables the analysis of the material on single-use chips with micro canals (simultaneous analysis: 12 DNA samples, 11 RNA samples, 10 protein samples) and the electrophoretic analysis by measuring the laser-induced fluorescence, allows automated definition of the quantity and quality of material. Additionally, there is a possibility for the device to analyze the small RNA fragments with the length ranging from 6 up to 150 nucleotides and the possibility to separate proteins within the range of 10 – 250 kDa with the sensitivity level similar to the one of the silver method, from 1 pg/μl. The software of the device enables presentation of the electrophoretic results in the form of the classic gel, a graph or a table.

The Carl Zeiss inverted microscope is equipped with a fluorescent cap, phase contrast and a color camera enabling the live display on the computer’s screen. Microscope is equipped with a set of 3 individual fluorescent filters and the software to analyze the ZEN 2011 pictures. This software enables a multi-channel registration of fluorescent pictures.

Panda+ NS 1000L Disintegrator

The Panda+ NS 1000 L lab disintegrator is used for high-pressure homogenization. This allows a precise and efficient disintegration of the bacterial cell suspension. This process is based on pumping the initially prepared material through a special construction with a very narrow clearance. While going through the valve, there are a number of hydrodynamic processes the solution is going through which lead to a very high level of fragmentation of materials and their proper mixing. It is possible to receive set-ups in which the particles of the dispersed phase receive the submicronic dimensions. Another benefit of the process is that nearly all practical elements of the liquid are subject to the same level of influence which is reflected in the very bright (and uniform) distribution of particle dimensions and strictly repeatable product properties. The Panda+ NS 1000 L lab disintegrator is equipped with the levels of homologation and the working pressure of up to 1000 bar.

A system for controlled cell freezing/ thawing CL8800 CryoLogic

The system for controlled cell freezing/ thawing CL8800 CryoLogic is equipped with a bath for liquid nitrogen, cryogenic chamber, registrator of temperature Tl-13 together with the CryoGenesis™ V5 and the steering computer. IT enables precise control of the decrease and increase of temperature in the cryogenic chamber. The CryoGenesis™ V5 software enables designing the asymptote of cell freezing and thawing.

Gene Pulser Xcell™ system

The Gene Pulser Xcell™ system electroporator is composed of two modules – CE and PC and each of them has a different use and capacity. In the CE module the low voltage (500 V) condensator is used which enables electroporation of mammalian cells and protoplasts of plant cells. The PC module generates a significantly higher voltage (up to 3000 V) which is crucial for work with the cells of bacteria and fungi. The device is adjusted to different cells. It has a number of parameters which in an easy way can be regulated (voltage, number of pulses, their duration or the periods between them). The Gene Pulser Xcell electroporator has a broad range of applications in different in vitro experiments in which quick, effective and repeatable modifications of cells are important, e.g. by introducing foreign genes.

ELx800 Absorbance Reader

It is used to perform tests of endotoxin content (LAL test) by means of a quantitative method. The single channel, absorbance reader works with the length of waves at the level of 400 – 750 nm and performs the readouts from microplates. While performing the readout the plate moves along the X and Y axes so that with the use of a single optical channel it performs the readout of each hole while the readout may take place on one or two wave lengths. The filter wheel enables the installation of 5 different interference filters.
